Scholarships will be restricted to public four-year colleges and universities located within the State of Alabama.
Applications are to be turned in to the Chamber office by 4:00 p.m., April 17, 2009. Anyone wanting more information about these scholarships can call the Chamber at 988-5672. Five area students were awarded the Lila Parks Scholarships for 2008-2009 at the May Chamber luncheon. Sponsored by the Hoover Area Chamber of Commerce, each award winner received scholarship funding to further their education at a public four-year college or university located in Alabama. Deserving students were chosen through an extensive selection process by members of the Chamber’s Scholarship Committee.

The Scholarship Program is named after Lila Parks, a long-time volunteer who ran the Applied Career Education Program (A.C.E.) for high school students for the ten years it existed. Although now retired, Lila is still very active in the Hoover Area Chamber; regularly helping with the monthly Chamber luncheon and serving on the Chamber Education and Scholarship Committee. The Hoover Area Chamber is proud to present these awards in honor of Lila.
